Name a cockroach after your ex this Valentine’s Day

(Gray News) - Valentine’s Day is around the corner, but not everyone wants to celebrate it with flowers and heart-shaped boxes of chocolates.

If you’re looking for an off-the-wall way to mark Valentine’s Day, the San Antonio Zoo is hosting its “Cry Me a Cockroach” fundraiser.

For a donation to the zoo, you can symbolically name a cockroach, vegetable or rat after an ex or “not-so-special someone” and it will get fed to one of their zoo animals.

Along with a sense of satisfaction, you will also receive a digital downloadable Valentine’s Day card from the zoo for your support.

To participate, visit the zoo’s website, select your donation option and submit the name of your ex. It’s $10 to name a cockroach, $5 for a veggie and $25 to name a rat after your ex.

In addition, the zoo is selling $15 poop-scented candles that they say capture their hippo Timothy’s signature scent.
